Binoy Majumder
Co-founder / CEO
Binoy Majumder possesses ten years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing research projects focused on climate change, sustainability, and livelihoods. His areas of expertise include project management, team coordination, stakeholder engagement, and scientific communication. Binoy has worked on research projects funded by prestigious institutions such as the University of California-Davis, the National Museum of Denmark, and Virginia Tech University, in addition to collaborating with local governments, NGOs, and academic institutions. His skill set comprises socio-cultural studies, workshop and seminar organization, knowledge of the agricultural sector in Bangladesh, groundwater and water management, climate change and its impact on livelihood, and arsenic contamination awareness and mitigation. Currently, Mr. Majumder is serving as a research consultant at Virginia Tech University, conducting an Impact Analysis of the Integrated Pest Management Project in Bangladesh, gathering and organizing data for research purposes, designing research methodologies, and writing reports for impact analysis.
Kallol Sarkar

Kallol Sarkar is the owner of Long Leap, an IT firm in Jalpaiguri district, providing services to the West Bengal Government. With a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology and a master's degree in information technology from DOEACC, Jadavpur University, his expertise lies in programming languages like C, C++, Java, SQL, and more. Kallol's achievements include developing the Market Value Database for the Department of Land Registration, Government of West Bengal, and creating paybill software under Computerization of Salary Account (CoSA) for the Finance Department, Government of West Bengal. His firm, Long Leap, is an authorized vendor for the Finance Department of the state government.

Dr. Anubhab Gupta
Assistant Professor

Dr. Anubhab Gupta is currently serving as an assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at Virginia Tech. His research primarily focuses on the intersection of international development and agricultural policies in both developed and developing country contexts. His research interests span across diverse areas such as impact evaluations of development projects, agricultural market structures in rural settings, migration and displacement of populations due to conflicts and climate change, and general equilibrium impacts of policies. His work has resulted in numerous collaborations with international organizations such as the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, World Bank, and the World Food Programme. Dr. Gupta's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Davis, double M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Arizona and in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, and a B.S. in Economics from the University of Calcutta in India.
Dr. Miki Khanh Doan
Economist, The World Bank
Dr. Miki Khanh Doan is an experienced economist and researcher who has worked with several prestigious organizations such as the World Bank and International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). She has expertise in poverty and equity, gender and COVID impacts, and economic development. Dr. Doan has also worked as a teaching assistant at the University of California, Davis, and as a research associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. She has conducted field research on sustainable agriculture for small-scale farmers in Zambia.
Dr. Aleksandr Michuda
Assistant Research Professor, Cornell University
Aleksandr Michuda is an Assistant Research Professor at the Center for Data Science for Enterprise and Society. Aleksandr studies how machine learning and big data can be used to solve problems in development economics. He is particularly interested in the role of rideshare applications in transforming the labor market in emerging markets. He has worked with various corporate partners to make rigorous and policy relevant research. He currently has a joint appointment in the Department of Information Science, School of Computing and Information Science and with the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. He graduated from UC Davis with a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics.
Dr. Heng Zhu
Economist for World Food Programme
Dr. Heng Zhu is an economist for the World Food Programme, with research interests in development economics, refugees, remittances, and financial diaries. He has published several research papers in reputable academic journals such as the American Journal of Agricultural Economics and Economics Letters, covering topics such as the economic impact of the COVID-19 lockdown in remittance-dependent regions, the efficiency of decisions under membership heterogeneity and government regulations, and the short-term effects of India’s demonetization on the rural poor. Additionally, he has conducted research on the economic impact of nature-based tourism, protected area tourism, and cash crop promotion. Dr. Zhu received his PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Davis.

Dr. Bente Wolff
Anthropologist
Dr. Bente Wolff is an anthropologist and project manager with a decade of experience in India and solid field experience in Indonesia. She is a negotiator and bureaucratic pathfinder in public-private partnerships between Denmark and Asia. Dr. Wolff can assist Danish-Asian technical expert teams in identifying workable linkages and active local partners, navigate local administrative channels, and formulate visions and strategize action plans in coordination with stakeholders. She is skilled in creating successes that people want to be part of. Her key competencies include negotiating terms and agreements with local counterparts, creating linkages between Danish-Asian expertise and local authorities, developing visions, strategies and action plans in coordination with stakeholders, and developing culturally sensitive solutions. She can adjust solutions to local technical capacities and financial conditions, develop a project from plan to implementation and sustainable operation, and engage local citizens, media, and influencers. Dr. Wolff is experienced in organizing meetings, seminars, exhibitions, press conferences, media productions, and delegation visits. She can also train team members in cross-cultural skills. Dr. Wolff is diplomatic, pragmatic, analytic, flexible, trustworthy, result-oriented, culturally sensitive, engaged, and economically cautious. She is highly formal when needed but otherwise informal, even funny.

As the Logistics Manager of SCDA, Soma Majumder brings over a decade of experience as a skilled field investigator and data entry operator in various research projects. She has collaborated with renowned institutions such as Virginia Tech University, Cornell University, the University of California, Davis, and the National Museum of Denmark on projects encompassing climate change, livelihood, economic impacts of COVID-19, groundwater management, and heritage restoration, among others. Throughout her career, Soma has held various roles, including supervisor, field investigator, data entry operator, interpreter, and local assistant. She holds a Master's degree in Anthropology from Indira Gandhi Open University and enjoys interacting with diverse communities.
